Volunteer Positions

  • Event setup (5-6) 1:00 - 2:00pm (FULL)

  • Ticket distribution (4) 1:30 - 2:30pm (FULL)

  • Door duty (2) 1:45 - 3:45pm (FULL)

  • Craft table helpers (10) 2:30 - 4:00pm (FULL)

3 in 1 - Where Learning Meets Fun!

Join us in welcoming May Sea Hero, Monterey Kelp Restoration Advocate Keith Rootsaert, as he presents his Giant Kelp Restoration Project to the Fremont community. Together, let's raise awareness about pressing local ocean issues and inspire the next generation to explore scientific solutions.

Craft materials, including sea urchin shells, air plants, and strings, will be available at the activity tables. All sea urchins to be used for the craft were collected from Monterey Bay by Mr. Keith and his volunteer diver team, the air plants come from his own backyard.

Event Time: Saturday, October 28th, 2-3:30pm

Place: Fremont Main Library, Children’s area. 2400 Stevenson Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538

Free tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Children's area, beginning at 1:45 pm.

Event Co-Hosts and Partners:

Fremont Main Library: A modern community hub located in Fremont, California, offering a wide variety of resources, services, and programs for all ages. It's a welcoming space for reading, research, and learning, with a striking design and a commitment to fostering a love of reading and community engagement.

Keith Rootsaert: A dive master and reef surveyor, serves as one of the board advisors for AquaMeridian's US chapter. As the founder of the grassroots Giant Kelp Restoration Project (G2KR) based in Monterey, California, Keith Rootsaert has led hundreds of volunteer divers in advocating for policy changes and actively addressing kelp loss along the California coastline. Rootsaert has also spearheaded research to determine the factors contributing to kelp loss and reestablishment, as well as secured permits for G2KR to remove urchins from the water for scientific purposes.

Shine4Love Teens Club: Shine4Love Teens Club is a subsidiary of  Able2Shine Foundation, a 501(c) non-profit organization launched in 2019. The Teens Club is open to all local kids aged 12 and above. Its mission is to build youth communication and leadership skills through teamwork, enhance their soft skills to competently face the competitive world, and inspire them to serve the community through a variety of cross-cultural events and activities.
