‘going ZERO waste’ Beach Cleanup

October 12th, AquaMeridian hosted a memorable beach cleanup at the Seaplane Lagoon Alameda, marking the start of a new chapter for our organization. This event was special for many reasons—we selected a new student leader, Xiaohan, as our Sustainability Officer, who specializes in managing our beach cleanups and collaborating with school officials for event promotions.

We were excited to see new students attending our events, getting inspired, and stepping up into leadership roles, especially after Felix, our founding president, headed off to college. We hope to continue inspiring more students and providing opportunities for them to take on future leadership roles in various areas of nonprofit work, collaborate with other leaders to plan and execute projects and events, promote environmental conservation, and make a meaningful impact in the community.

Yesterday, we were thrilled to see a fantastic turnout, with many returning volunteers who have been with us over the years, as well as new student volunteers from Alameda schools, including a great group from Encinal and Alameda High School. With the support of Deep Ocean Dive Shop and CASA (Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda), we made a meaningful difference by cleaning up the beach and raising awareness about ocean conservation.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day a success. Let's keep the momentum going and continue making a difference! We’re also excited to share that we’re coordinating with Mrs. Sharon Kwok, the founder of AquaMeridian Hong Kong, for our upcoming November beach cleanups. Stay tuned for the event announcement!

Tremendous effort at today’s Second Saturday coastal clean up at Seaplane Lagoon Alameda.
Delighted to have so many Encinal and Alameda high school students along with some rising stars from Cal- go bears!
