Making Waves: A Successful Beach Cleanup at Del Monte Monterey
This incredible event had been in the works for almost two months. Felix meticulously planned the agenda with our corporate volunteer leaders, event partners, and every student leader, ensuring that everyone traveling from the Bay Area arrived on time and well-prepared after the one-and-a-half-hour drive to Monterey. They were familiar with the timeline, equipped with buckets and grabbers when going out in groups, and one person was assigned for debris data logging as part of our contribution to the environment, ensuring smooth operations. Our gratitude knows no bounds for our amazing volunteers and partners, the Giant Giant Kelp Restoration Project. Together, we are making strides towards a cleaner, greener community.
Thank to our teams of volunteers who diligently documented their findings, recording a staggering total of 503 items and 115.4 pounds of debris. It's eye-opening to realize the extent of trash hiding on our beautiful beach, but it's heartening to know that we are taking action to address it.
