Del Monte Beach is a hidden gem known to Monterey Bay locals. It’s tucked away from the main streets and located on the back side of a coastal housing community. Municipal Wharf II in Monterey sits to the northwest of Del Monte Beach, often drawing visitors who explore the area during their visit to Monterey. The floating docks of Monterey Harbor and the pilings beneath Municipal Wharf II harbor a diverse ecosystem shaped by human activity, sometimes referred to as "accidental zoos."

As part of our dedication to environmental stewardship, we'll be pitching in to clean the beach on the east side of the wharf. Please refer to the green arrow and yellow highlighted area on the map below. We'll focus on cleaning both the beachfront and the area near Monterey Bay Kayaks.

Introducing AquaMeridian's Tide Tote Fundraiser: Handmade Shark-Themed Tote Bags

-Be the First to Get Your Hands on Our Limited Batch of Tote Bags at the April 6th Del Monte Beach Cleanup!

We've got you covered with all the necessary supplies for the beach cleanup, including buckets, grabbers, gloves, trash bags, water, and snacks. All you need to do is come prepared with the right gear and attire to ensure your safety, comfort, and effectiveness in the cleanup efforts. We suggest you prepare for Sun Protection: wear sunscreen with a high SPF rating to shield your skin from sunburn, and consider wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes from direct sunlight. Comfortable Clothing: Opt for lightweight and breathable clothing that allows for easy movement and keeps you cool during the cleanup. Closed-Toe Shoes: Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots to protect your feet from sharp objects like broken glass, shells, or rocks. Avoid wearing flip-flops or sandals, as they offer minimal protection and can be hazardous on uneven terrain. Bring your family along and enjoy a day trip in Monterey while making a positive impact on our community.

Additionally, please download CleanSwell® in advance so we can contribute our debris data to a global network. This will help us in analyzing and addressing environmental issues more effectively together.

Parking:

Please park in the Fisherman's Wharf parking lot in front of Sapporo Sushi or along the wharf itself. We will gather at the public restroom area where the beach and wharf intersect.

Volunteer Check-in:

Locate the AquaMeridian booth and tent located directly on the beach adjacent to the wharf.

Municipal Wharf 2, Monterey, CA 93940

Download “Clean Swell”

To ensure smooth recording of litter collected during the event, please download the Clean Swell® app and create an account beforehand. By doing so, you will be making a valuable contribution to the global fight against ocean pollution, as researchers and advocates rely on this data to tackle the issue at a large scale.
