Felix, Faye Lin

Founder and President - AquaMeridian US

A high school senior in Silicon Valley with diverse interests in science, the ocean, and the arts, began her journey into the underwater world by taking up scuba diving in Monterey Bay when she was twelve. She's racked up over 60 dives, mostly in California cold water, and has conducted two science research projects. She built an in-situ camera rig in 8th grade to record timelapse videos of underwater organisms and an underwater ROV (remotely operated vehicle) in 10th grade with mission modules to conduct underwater surveys and collect organism samples.

At just 16, in 2022, Faye has already made a name for herself as a finalist in Regeneron ISEF, the world's largest pre-college STEM competition and winning two special awards. She's also a grand award and 1st place winner at ACSEF (Alameda County Science and Engineering Fair), as well as a Society for Science Broadcom Top 300 MASTERS® — the nation's premier STEM competition for middle school students back in 2020. Her work also shines at the Scholastic Art and Writing Contest through winning the Gold Key.

Faye's love of the ocean has led her to turn towards marine conservation, including joining the Giant Giant Kelp Restoration project on urchin culling dives, making efforts in outreach about local marine issues through school and club events, and founding the first US branch of AquaMeridian.

In addition to her scientific pursuits, Faye is deeply committed to the community. She hopes to encourage her peers to take action through educational outreach and fundraisers to advance AquaMeridian's mission.

Sharon Kwok

Founder - AquaMeridian Hong Kong

Sharon Kwok, Faye’s influencer and mentor, is a conservationist who has worked in Hong Kong’s public broadcasting and film industry since 1987.

Artist, actress, and an avid conservationist, Sharon Kwok has been a diver since she was 8 years of age and her love of the oceans has led her to become an active participant in the diving community. Sharon is an ADEX Ocean Ambassador, the first Asian inductee to the “Women Diver’s Hall of Fame” to date, and she was recently nominated as one of the ‘18 Most Influential Women in Ocean Conservation’ by Ocean Geographic. Her love of nature has also led her to be accepted into The Society of Women Geographers, and The Explorers’ Club.

In 2013, Sharon founded AquaMeridian Conservation and Education Foundation, a non-profit organization in Hong Kong to provide a Chinese based yet international conservation entity, which aims to change mindsets to end demands for endangered wildlife and enable sustainable lifestyles through creative and cross-cultural programs. Some of AquaMeridian’s local projects include celebrity-led campaigns for endangered animal species, working with or lobbying for conservation initiatives with governments, education seminars at school and corporations, as well as underwater and beach clean-ups that involved thousands of volunteers.
