Inspiration
Where it all started.
I had the pleasure of meeting Auntie Sharon, a conservationist, artist, and star, during a family trip to Hong Kong in 2016. Auntie Sharon is a true gem, offered to take us on a tour of the city. The tour was an eye-opening experience, and I was so inspired by Auntie Sharon's passion for animal protection. She is a dedicated and knowledgeable person in the field and her commitment to preserving and protecting the wildlife were truly awe-inspiring. Auntie Sharon is a true role model, and I am so grateful for the experience to learn from her. - Faye Lin
There are several bird markets in Hong Kong, and they are the popular destinations for both locals and tourists. These markets sell a variety of birds, including parrots, finches, and doves, as well as bird-related products such as cages and food. The markets are known for their colorful and lively atmosphere, and visitors can often see the birds singing and performing tricks. The markets also serve as a gathering place for bird enthusiasts to socialize and share their love of birds.
At the bird market, auntie Sharon taught me the proper techniques for safely interacting with birds, including how to determine their age by examining their feathers and physical characteristics. One unique method was using my own hair to touch the bird and gauge its personality.

The Streets
Walking through the streets of Hong Kong was a true adventure. We traversed the city, barely stopping to catch our breath, and discovered that each street had its own unique character. Some were dark and narrow, others dirty and gritty, but all of them were full of life and energy. Whether it was vendors hawking their wares or locals going about their daily routines, there was always something interesting to see and experience.
Dolphin Breeding Center
The Ocean Park Dolphin Breeding Center in Hong Kong is a facility that is dedicated to the conservation and breeding of dolphins. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to feed and interact with the dolphins at the breeding center, I even received a kiss from one of them. It was an unforgettable experience that also allowed me to learn more about these intelligent and fascinating creatures
Suan Mei Tang
During my Hong Kong adventure, I was lucky enough to discover the delightful delicacy that is Suan Mei Tang. This summer sip is a beloved tradition in Hong Kong, believed to cool you down and cure any heat-induced woes.
My aunt Sharon, a self-proclaimed Sour Plum Soup fanatic, introduced me to this tangy treat. I was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor. It is a refreshing and thirst-quenching treat that is especially enjoyable on a hot day.
As I roamed the streets of Hong Kong, I couldn't help but notice the abundance of Suan Mei Tang stands. It was clear that the locals couldn't get enough of this traditional drink. I felt like I was part of the cool crowd, sipping on my Sour Plum Soup with the locals.
Drawing Cards
Looking back, I realize that the trip was truly life-changing. To this day, I still hold onto the drawings I created during that journey. From the thrill-seeking roller coaster ride with auntie Sharon to the day we met, every moment was filled with excitement and joy. Even now, as I gaze upon my drawings, I am transported back to those memories and the impact they have had on shaping me into who I am today.
